"The Carbon Sense Coalition today claimed that the Emissions Trading Scheme would eat the heart out of regional Australia by destroying jobs in mining, processing, construction, farming, forestry, transport and tourism.

In a submission to the Australian Senate Economics Committee, the Chairman of “Carbon Sense”, Mr Viv Forbes, said that the mis-named “Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme” had nothing to do with carbon or pollution - “it is essentially a cap and a tax on carbon dioxide, the harmless, colourless natural gas that sustains all life on earth”."

“To cut man’s emissions of carbon dioxide, we need to curb electricity generation, cement manufacture, mining, smelting, refining, all forms of transport, farm and earth moving machinery, all farmed animals, forestry and construction. ...

“California and Spain have proved that the war on carbon dioxide will kill real jobs faster than fake green jobs can be created.

“When the lights go out, industry migrates to Asia and our power bills soar ...

Nicholas Stern har visst släppt en bok. Ni minns han med den s k Sternrapporten, vilken tragiskt nog dyrkas av alla politiker, från vänster till höger, och som jag i detta inlägg påpekade, i strid med miljöekonomers åsikt, föreslår att samhället i dag och i all framtid lägger minst 5 procent av årlig BNP på att minska CO2-utsläpp (jag borde detaljerat skriva om något dussin högst respektabla ekonomer med detta som specialitet som sågat Stern med fotknölarna; lägg gärna en peng -- bli den förste att göra det! -- som gåva via PayPal; det är faktiskt, tro det eller ej, otacksamt att blogga utan ersättning). I boken skriver han följande om påpekandena att verklig temperatur nu inte så väl tycks följa klimatmodellerna:

This confuses cycles with trends, peaks with troughs and sea temperatures with land temperatures. Further, it ignores that the last decade was the hottest since records began and that the trend is clearly upwards. But this is the kind of nonsense that some would try to peddle. There are many more half-baked attempts to try to naysay the science, but they always unravel on careful inspection. And the same has been true of more sophisticated attempts, such as those involving changing structures of humidity in the atmosphere.

Så klimatforskare som visar att atmosfärens vattenånga minskar +1.2 grader C direkt effekt från dubbel CO2-halt till mellan +0.2 och +0.4 grader C, istället för att som IPCC antar öka den till mellan +3 och +6 grader C, är ett "try to naysay the science"? (HT)
